he Ordination of Reverend William Godfrey
Sunday, February 27, 2011 was a monumental occasion for our church! Not only did this day have historical significance for us - it was our church's 12th anniversary, but this Sunday greatly impacted our future as well. During the morning service we had the honor and privilege of ordaining Rev. William Godfrey into service at Grace United Reformed Church as Minister of Word and Sacrament.
Rev. Godfrey graduated from Westminster Seminary California in the Spring of 2010 and sustained his candidacy exam at the June 2010 meeting of the United Reformed Church Southwestern Classis in Loveland, Colorado. He had been serving in our church as a licentiate since the Fall of 2010, exhorting in both the morning and afternoon services. Over this time we came to know and love Bill and early in February 2011 we extended a call to have him serve in the capacity of Minister of the Word. Rev. Godfrey accepted the call and on February 27th he was ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament. We are thrilled to have him join our church in a formal capacity. We pray for and expect rich blessings from our Lord in this calling and ordination to service for both Grace URC and Mr. Godfrey. We are immensely grateful for the Lord's providence and benevolence to His people!

The ordination took place in the morning service. Rev. Dr. W. Robert Godfrey, Bill's father and President of Westminster Seminary California, delivered the sermon on Psalm 40, "A New Song for a New Minister." Rev. Robert Godfrey, Bill's brother and pastor of Trinity URC in Visalia, CA, officiated the Form for Ordination and Rev. Greg Bero gave the charge.
